Overview

A regional Ruby conference run jointly by the Ruby communities of Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui prefectures. It picks an unusual venue, a seminar room inside the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, and keeps the format small with a half-day program, free to attend, bringing Hokuriku Rubyists together under the theme "Discovery". Organized by Toyama.rb, Kanazawa.rb and fukui.rb.

Program

  • Single track, in-person talks only (no online)
  • Keynote by unasuke
  • Selected 20-minute talks from the CFP (about 6 slots)
  • Optional self-guided museum visit in the morning (tentative); after-party near Fukui Station

Speakers

  • unasuke (keynote; 2026)

Foundation

Founded
2025
Founder
Three Ruby communities across the Hokuriku prefectures

Local communities in Hokuriku, each too small to carry a conference alone, chose to run one jointly across prefectural lines

Transition

  1. 2025 Hokuriku RubyKaigi 01 held on December 6
  2. 2026 Held November 14 from 13:00 to 16:30 at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum under the theme Discovery, with unasuke as keynote speaker, free with advance registration

Voices

About half the attendees came from outside the Hokuriku region, and every registrant showed up; the talk on development abstraction layers left the strongest impression (from SonicGarden's report on the previous edition, in Japanese)
The range of Ruby uses on show went well beyond web development, a reminder of the fundamental appeal of Ruby as a general-purpose language (from the SmartHR Tech Blog report on the previous edition, in Japanese)
